Flite Test Sea Otter – the Flite Test Sea Otter is a seaplane speed build kit, with a 1016mm wingspan. Suits intermediate pilots.

Built from water-resistant foam board with a swappable firewall.

What you need to finish the Sea Otter

• Power: Flite Test Power Pack B Radial
• Servos: 4 x 9g
• Battery: 3S 1300–2200mAh LiPo
• Propeller: 8×4.5
• A transmitter and receiver with at least 4 channels
• A hot glue gun and glue sticks, such as Flite Test 10in Hot Glue Sticks (1lb, 10 pcs)

Good to know

Flite Test speed-build kits come without electronics. You will also need a power pack, servos, a receiver, a propeller and a flight battery. For example, each kit’s plans list the power pack it calls for. Also, building is quicker with a low-temperature glue gun and a sharp hobby blade.

• First, read through the plans before you start building.
• Then dry-fit each part before you glue it in place.
• Also, take care over the centre of gravity, as a plane that balances correctly is far easier to fly.
• Finally, choose calm weather and a large open field for your first flights.
