Description

Description

JP Hardwood Dowel, 8mm x 900mm – a genuine JP hardwood from J Perkins (part number 5521009). Premium structural support that resists denting and warping: precision-machined hardwood dowels ensuring a perfect metric fit for high-stress joinery.

Hardwood Dowel Rod (Metric) – Premium Structural Support

When your project demands superior strength and a perfectly smooth finish, reach for our Hardwood Dowel Rods. Machined from dense, quality timber (e.g., Beech or Birch), these cylindrical rods offer reliable structural support and an excellent aesthetic that can be stained, painted, or left natural.

Unlike softer woods, these dowels resist bending, denting, and warping, making them indispensable for precision model making and functional craft pieces.

  • Diameter: 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm
  • Length: 900mm
  • High Durability: The ideal choice for load-bearing elements, axles, and reinforcement where balsa or softer materials would fail.
  • Precision Metric Sizing: Perfectly round and consistently sized in a range of diameters (e.g., 3mm, 5mm, 8mm, 10mm, etc.) to ensure a perfect fit for drilled holes and component alignment.
  • Versatile Use: Essential for joinery (creating strong, invisible joints), model ship masts and rigging, furniture construction/repair, diorama detailing, and custom tool handles.

Secure your builds with the lasting strength and quality finish of our premium hardwood dowels.

Key features

  • Strong hardwood: dense, straight-grained timber that resists bending and denting far better than balsa or softwood.
  • Smooth round profile: a consistent, smooth dowel for a neat fit in drilled holes.
  • Ideal for joints: makes strong dowel joints, pegs and pins in woodwork, furniture repair and model construction.
  • Takes finishes well: sands smoothly and accepts stains, paints and varnish, or can be left natural.
  • Wide range of uses: ideal for ship masts and spars, axles, frameworks, tool handles, crafts and dioramas.
