Zvezda Samurai Army

Historical note: Samurai (military servants) – the privileged military class of Japan, living according to its code of honor – bushido, which meant “the path of a warrior.” The main purpose of the life of a samurai was devotional service to his master – daimyo (prince) or shogun (military ruler of Japan).
The most common weapons of the samurai were the bow and spear (yari).
But the sword was an integral part of the weapons of the samurai. The most desperate grunts were considered samurai, armed with Nodati – a long two-handed sword.
Their powerful attack was difficult to resist even experienced warriors.
Some samurai were trained in the art of owning a naginata – a sword mounted on a long pole. Masterfully mastering these weapons, they combined the powerful blow of a long sword in attack and the protective properties of a spear during defense. But not only samurai participated in campaigns and battles.
Many daimyo recruited peasants in their possessions who wished to enlist in the military, and trained them in military affairs. These troops received the name “Asigaru” (light on the leg), because they had light defensive weapons and were able to quickly move around the battlefield. In the mid-16th century, firearms – arquebuses began to appear in the armies of Japanese generals.
These weapons were armed not only with samurai, but also with a cigarette. It was a matter of a few days to train a former peasant in shooting from an arquebus, so the arquebusiers were mainly asigaru.
Each daimyo created his own army, fighting under his banner.
Special badges were attached to the backs of the soldiers, on which the coat of arms of the daimyo was depicted.
Noble samurai were at his daimyo as his guard or served as junior commanders in his troops. They had the strongest armor and were better trained in military affairs.
