Description
Description
The Multiplex Heron is a high-performance electric glider with T-tail and high-efficiency four-flap wing. With its elegant wings and flowing fuselage lines it responds superbly to thermals. When required the efficient Permax brushless motor and folding propeller (supplied in this RR version) deliver plenty of propulsive power. Its docile flying characteristics and excellent performance in the air ensure that the Heron provides a maximum of flying pleasure, whether you’re a weekend pilot or an ‘old hand’, indeed as a Heron owner you’ll enjoy floating through the air for long periods, as well as lively aerobatics – all performed with elegance and precision. The extravagant four-flap wing with its extremely stiff CFRP / aluminium tubular spar technology sets entirely new standards in the 2.40 metre span class. Flaps are a standard feature, making pin-point landings child’s play, whilst improving the launch characteristics and giving the pilot a broad performance spectrum for high speed, aerobatics and thermalling. Our tip is fit this exciting electric glider with our MULTIGyro G3, which effortlessly compensates for the effects of gusts and turbulence. The gyro gives you the sensation of piloting a perfectly trimmed, much larger model through the air.

Adrian L Wood –
I have had my Heron RR for over two years, it has had more than 85 hours of airtime, over 120 flights, and it is still going strong. I have found it surprisingly capable of aerobatics, although it looks and feels more at home when just soaring and working good lift. The “crow” brakes work effectively, and help a lot in achieving consistent accurate landings, at the slope, or on the flat-field.
With an Overlander 2200 3S Lipo, I have generally achieved 35 – 45 minutes flat-field airtime in the lighter winds (up to about 8 mph). 20 secs of full-power climb gives me around 125 metres height and 3 mins of glide in neutral air. For a more even soaring flight, I have found that using 30% back-ground motor power makes searching out lift areas and avoiding the sinking air much easier, climb rate at this power is around 0.5m/s, plus any thermal assistance, so it then almost feels like it is in gentle slope-soaring lift conditions. Nice and relaxing.
Slope soaring itself is enjoyable, although once windspeed is above 12 mph, the model is getting to the edge of its comfort zone in my experience. Overall, a delightful model.
