EBBRO Team Lotus Type 49C (1970) Gold Leaf E006

The Lotus 49 is a British Formula 1 car that made its track debut at the 1967 Dutch Grand Prix and competed in F1 races until the 1970 season. Its designer was Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe. The Lotus 49 was powered by a single Ford Cosworth DFV 8-cylinder engine with a displacement of 3 liters.

The Lotus 49 was developed to replace another car: the Lotus 43. Like its predecessor, it used an aluminum monocoque, but differed in several important respects. First of all, it was powered by a completely different engine, which had better work dynamics and was less reliable than that used in the Lotus 43. It was also lighter by about 50 kilograms than its predecessor, and still had very good traction properties. Undoubtedly, the Lotus 49 turned out to be a much more successful design than the 43 model, and the drivers riding it won the world championship twice: in 1968 and 1970. The most famous drivers driving this car were, among others: Jim Clark and Graham Hill. In total, Lotus 49 took part in 42 F1 races, of which 12 won.
